Monday April 28: The Easton VFD was dispatched for the vehicle fire Rt. 50 near Idlewild Ave. Units arrived to find a small bus well involved in the parking lot of the old Southern States building. The vehicle was being towed from an earlier accident in Kent County when the fire started and the wrecker driver quickly unhooked the vehicle and pulled his truck away from the burning bus. The EVFD held its bicentennial celebration over the weekend of April 18th and 19th. There was a get together on Friday night for visitors to come in and get to know each other and the members of EVFD. On Saturday a parade and block party was held at the firehouse with Great Train Robbery playing into the night. The bicentennial was a great success and we appreciate the support of the community we serve.

EVFD units were alerted to assist St. Michaels for a reported dwelling fire on Cedar Cove Rd. Upon arrival of Chief 40 (Patrick), he reported a 2 car attached garage fully involved with extension into the residence. He quickly called for a tanker task force and then a 2nd alarm for additional manpower. Two draft sites were established close to the scene so the task force was reduced to transfers. It took approximately an hour to bring the fire under control. One firefighter was tranported to Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
