On Sunday afternoon August 8 Talbot Center dispatched Station 60 (EVFD) Station 40 (St. Michaels) and Paramedic 90 for the house fire on Leehaven Rd. Chief 61 (Jones) arrived reporting a single story dwelling with smoke showing from side "A" and established "Leehaven" command. After further investigation Captain Jones reported fire visible around an electric meter box and extending up the exterior wall. Engine 63 (McNeal) dropped their line at the end of the lane, proceeded up and pulled a 1 3/4 hand line. The crew had to force entry to check for interior extension. At this time Asst. Chief McNeal assumed operations. Engine 67 arrived and assisted 63 in opening up. Crews had to use dry chemical to knock the fire because the line to the house was still hot. Everything was wet down after Choptank Electric arrived and secured the power to the dwelling. Crews operated for approximately 45 minutes before returning to service.
